Windows 7 'Terinspirasi' dari OS Mac

NEW YORK - Microsoft secara mengejutkan mengakui kalau sistem operasi yang berjalan di Mac sangatlah menawan. Bahkan sistem operasi mereka yang terbaru, Windows 7 secara tidak langsung terinspirasi dari kompetitornya tersebut.

"Apa yang telah kami coba lakukan dengan Windows 7 apakah itu format tradisional atau dalam format sentuhan, secara tidak langsung terinspirasi dari tampilan dan grafis Mac," beber Manajer Microsoft grup Simon Aldous, yang dilansir PCR, Jumat (13/11/2009).

"Salah satu alasan kenapa kami terinspirasi, karena banyak orang mengatakan tentang Apple Mac OS yang fantastis, dengan grafis yang memukau, dan mudah digunakan. Oleh karena itu kami terpacu untuk mengalahkannya," tambahnya

Namun, Simon menambahkan, walaupun grafis Windows 7 banyak 'meminjam' dari Mac OS X grafik, grafis dan teknologi yang diusung Microsoft jauh lebih stabil dibandingkan dengan platform Mac.

Sayangnya tidak demikian pendapat kolumnis teknologi Walt Mossberg. Pria yang menulis ulasan mengenai Windows 7 itu mengatakan, OS terbaru besutan Microsoft tersebut sama baiknya dengan OS Mac. Meski begitu ia mengaku masih lebih memilih OS besutan Steve Jobs untuk digunakan sehari-hari.

"Dalam pandangan saya, Snow Leopard masih lebih cepat dan dapat diandalkan. Ini karena beberapa aplikasi built-in Apple masih lebih lengkap, seperti email, foto dan software video. Windows 7 kalah bersaing soal teknologi tersebut," tandas Mossberg. (tyo)

Windows 7 Sudah Dijebol Hacker

INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Microsoft baru merilis Windows 7 pada vendor PC saja. Namun produk perusahaan itu telah berhasil dijebol oleh hacker.

Sistem anti pembajakan Windows Genuine Advantage di Windows 7 Ultimate untuk manufaktur (RTM) dilaporkan telah berhasil dijebol oleh hacker China, menurut berbagai forum di negara itu. Setelah dijebol, user bisa mengaktifkan Windows 7 tanpa perlu terhubung ke server Microsoft.

Windows RTM biasanya sama dengan yang versi retail dan baru tersedia pada Oktober. Pembuat PC biasanya mendapat produk lebih awal agar produknya sudah siap saat Windows diluncurkan.

Hacker disebut menggunakan ISO yang bocor untuk mendapat sertifikat aktifasi yang ditandatangni secara digital oleh Microsoft untuk original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Dilaporkan, kunci yang berhasil dihack bisa digunakan untuk mengatifasi berbagai instalasi OEM semacam Dell, HP juga Lenovo.

Microsoft menyatakan sudah mengetahui masalah itu, dan berkomitmen untuk menjaga konsumennya agar tidak menjadi korban software palsu.

“Microsoft sangat menganjurkan agar konsumen tidak mendownload Windows 7 dari sumber tidak sah. Download Windows 7 dari peer-to-peer meningkatkan risiko terkena virus, trojan, serta malware lain yang biasanya ikut di software palsu. Risiko malware itu bisa merusak secara permanen data dan memperbesar kemungkinan menjadi korban pejahat,” kata jubir Microsoft.[ito]

Microsoft Introduces the Xbox 360 Panacea

In all fairness, Microsoft's console, the Xbox 360 is by no means a panacea but, at the same time, the Redmond company hopes that it will deliver a positive impact on patients in children’s hospitals. In this regard, Microsoft has joined forces with nonprofit organization Companions in Courage Foundation, and revealed that it is committing a few hundreds of Xbox 360 game kiosks for the benefit of children’s hospitals across the U.S. Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft, is scheduled to attend the inauguration of the first group of Xbox 360 kiosks in Seattle. "Microsoft is committed to keeping kids entertained in a variety of ways within a safer gaming environment, so partnering with Companions in Courage to offer children in hospitals a way to connect through something as universal as games is a natural fit for the work we do. The goal for this program is to give these kids a chance to have some fun and just be kids," Bach explained. Via the Xbox 360 kiosks in hospital playrooms across the U.S., hospitalized kids will be able to not only play a selection of games rated E and E10+, but also access Y-rated TV programs, G-rated movies, and even a private Xbox Live network. Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center of Seattle and the Children’s Hospital of Orange County are the first hospitals to receive Microsoft's Xbox 360 panacea. "Entertainment, creativity and personal connections can be important factors in alleviating some of the isolation and discomfort these children experience each day. Xbox 360 offers young patients a fun escape through games, TV shows, movies and positive interactions with others over the Xbox LIVE network. These gaming stations are a perfect complement to the interactive playrooms," said Companions in Courage founder and National Hockey League Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine.
